Lab Manager and Program Coordinator
Carlecia Stewart, also known as Cece, is the Lab Manager & Program Coordinator for the non-profit Black In Marine Science 501(c)(3). CeCe, born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, has always been passionate about helping others. She has dedicated her time and efforts to volunteering with various organizations, positively impacting her community. CeCe relocated to Virginia to assist with her grandmother's caregiving needs following high school graduation. Little did she know that this decision would introduce her to a group of remarkable women who played a pivotal role in shaping the person she has become today.
With many years of customer service, communication, and volunteer work, Cece works closely with the leadership of Black in Marine Science to create and maintain strong connections with groups based in Hampton Roads. She has assisted in successfully coordinating a movie premier in the region, Board retreat. She is working closely with the team for the upcoming Black in Marine Science Professional Wellness Retreat, which will occur in Norfolk, VA. By day she can be found in the corporate world working as a project coordinator; by night, she is out and about making a difference within the Hampton Roads community. CeCe has been a board member for several organizations and has chaired many events. Stewart's dedication to her various roles shines through in her work. She has always gone above and beyond to ensure her projects succeed. This can be seen in her development of the non-profit Black in Marine Science program, which has provided opportunities for underrepresented groups in marine science. Stewart's passion for her work is evident in her ceaseless efforts to improve the Hampton Roads community. She has been vital to many community initiatives, including establishing the Little Mermaid Premiere in Hampton, VA. This event was a resounding success due to Stewart's hard work coordinating all the necessary details. CeCe Stewart is a driven and talented individual who cares deeply about her community. She will remain a valuable asset to the Hampton Roads area for many years. |
